A recent client employed the services of CADSITE to investigate the damage caused to his chimney following the storms which hit last winter. He knew that there was something wrong with the lead work, but not to what extent! Traditionally this client would have had to call in a builder to have a look, this would have involved sending the builder onto the roof, which itself would be costly, let alone dangerous. For this job, several close-up photographs were taken as well as a 360 degree ‘point of interest’ clip which circled the chimney and provided the client with a video from which more detailed assessment could be made. Yet again, the drone can eliminate the danger from the inspection. There are also time and cost savings to be made, as with all of our inspections.

A similar roof inspection that we worked on involved trying to find the location of a leak! Our client knew that there was a hole in their roof, but not exactly where! The roof was constructed using Victorian ridge tiles, making it very hard to use a roof ladder to gain access to the roof. The second option would have been to scaffold the whole house to gain access to all areas. This proved too costly, so CADSITE were employed to investigate and inspect the roof. We took multiple photographs of the roof from all angles, and also included the chimneys into the inspection. The photographs of the inspection were sent to our client who passed them on to their roofer who was able to analyse every single slate. Subsequently, defects were found, and necessary repairs were made!
